Your Day at the Tiki Hut
You will be greeted at the cruise ship jetty or at our office in Bobby's Marina, Philipsburg and taken on a private water taxi for a 10 minute ride to the Tiki Hut. Upon arrival, a 10 minutes orientation is given on safety, equipment, and marine life. Afterwards the day is yours to snorkel, swim, and sunbathe. Stay as long or as little as you like. Our shuttle will also ferry you back to the cruise ship pier or into Philipsburg for some souvenir shopping.
The Tiki Hut Snorkel Platform
This 110' x 20' floating platform is anchored in beautiful Little Bay. It was built after months of planning and with the idea of recreating the authentic look and feel of a Polynesian Tiki Hut in the Caribbean. The platform is designed to safely hold up to 100 people.
Among the many extras found at the Tiki Hut are the bar with a sizzling barbecue, a protected 3' deep pool to provide a great experience even for our bathtub snorkelers, and lots of sun lounges and shady places to sit. Food, drinks, sunscreen, underwater cameras, and souvenir T-shirts are available at the bar – cash only please.
The Tiki Hut is always protected from the wind and waves by the Fort Amsterdam peninsula. Underwater you will discover rocky and sandy bottoms teeming with aquatic life. There is a real tourist submarine sunk to create an artificial reef and to attract new marine life. You will also find an helicopter, a small plane, King Neptune's statue, 3 cannons from Fort Amsterdam, Reef Balls made by the Nature Foundation of St. Maarten, as well as other interesting artifacts. The certified Snorkel Instructors are there to meet your every need in learning how to snorkel and to educate on the fascinating underwater world.
